The Bearings Framework

Seven steps, three sittings

The method

Start wherever you like.

The order below is the one that works best, because each step uses the one before it. Nothing stops you starting somewhere else.

No account, no email, and nothing you write is sent anywhere. There is no timer and nothing expires. Most people do this across three sittings rather than one.

Taken CliftonStrengths, the Enneagram, MBTI or anything like them? You can bring them. They become part of the language this uses, they never touch a number, and the method runs exactly the same without them.

  1. The Verdict

    What do you already know?

  2. The Settling

Are you in a state to decide anything?

  3. Your Week

What is your week actually made of?

  4. Your Ground

    What do you actually have?

  5. Your Constants

What do you do, wherever you are?

  6. The Wheel

Where does what you say matters part ways with where your life goes?

  7. The Refusal

What have you ruled out without looking at it?

  8. The Ask

What is being asked of you now?

  9. The Stand

What will you do, and by when?

If you already know the answer is that there is no good move in your situation, the seven steps are not going to find you one. This is the page for that instead.

Nothing you write here leaves this browser tab. There is no account, no email, and nothing is sent anywhere. Close the tab and it is gone, so download or print anything you want to keep.

This is an instrument, not a service. Nobody is on the other end of it. If what it shows you needs more than a sheet of numbers, that is what people are for. In the United States, 988 reaches a person by call or by text. Elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists the lines where you are.
